3rd high-level meeting of JCM in COP21

In the last couple of years, Japan has positively promoted the JCM in many countries. Till now, there are 16 countries signing the bilateral documents on implementing the JCM with Japan, including: Mongolia, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, Palau, Maldives, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, Costa Rica, Cambodia, Mexico, Arabic Saudi, Chile, Myanmar and Thailand. Internationally, JCM implementation has made progress: 8 projects have been succesfully registered (3 in Indonesia, 2 in Mongolia, 2 in Vietnam and 1 in Palau), many approved methodologies, revised and improved technical guidelines, etc.

On 8 December 2015, withtin the 21st Conference of Parties in Paris, France, Japan held the 3rd High-level meeting between partner countries in the JCM. H.E Tran Hong Ha, Vice Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Co-chair of the Vietnam-Japan Joint Committee of the JCM, attended the Meeting, where he met and discussed with H.E Tamayo Marukawa, Minister of Environment Japan (MOEJ) and other partner country representatives. In their speeches, representatives of 4 new partner countries in 2015 (Arabic Saudi, Chile, Myanmar and Thailand) expresses their pleasure and opstimism for the future, their willingness to collaborate with Japan in promoting the JCM in their countries in order to reduce their GHG emissions, transfer low-carbon technology and enhance national capacity to contribute to the ultimate goal of the UNFCCC. The meeting took place in the cordial and jubilant atmosphere with the prospect of a sustainbale future.
